Dr. V.J.S. Vohra, alongwith his father Late Col. D.S. Vohra, established Nevedac Prosthetic Centre (NPC) in 1973 at Zirakpur, Chandigarh. Dr. Vohra was whole time Director of NPC and later he was its Chairman & Managing Director up to August 2006. Dr. V.J.S. Vohra is actively involved since 1973 in the profession of Prosthetics and Orthotics, dealing with upper & lower limbs and spinal orthoses patients. He has full knowledge of all types of prosthetic and orthotic appliances, measurements/plaster casts, cast modification, fabrication, alignment, fitting of prostheses and orthoses, patient care & management and orthopaedic assistive devices.

Dr. Vohra is Consultant, Otto Bock HealthCare India. He is also Founder & CEO and Sr. Consultant of Nevedac Prosthetic Clinic: MediRehab Systems, Chandigarh, who are Certified Clinical Partner of Otto Bock HealthCare India, a 100% owned subsidiary of Otto Bock HealthCare GmbH (Germany) and provides state-of-the art lower and upper Prosthetic systems.

Dr. Vohra is also Managing Trustee of Jyot Charitable Trust, Chandigarh. JYOT is a registered charitable trust, established by Dr. Vohra in 1999 to empower and rehabilitate the physically challenged persons, to help the poor patients get artificial limbs and to assist Prosthetic Centres & institutions. Jyot has been providing yeoman services towards the cause of disabled persons.

Has keen interest in High Technology development, especially in field of Prosthetics - Orthotics. Besides many other innovations, Dr. Vohra has also indigenously designed and developed Electronic Hand, Battery operated Wheel Chair and Above Knee modular prosthesis.

Visited National Centre for Training and Education in Prosthetics and Orthotics, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland (U.K.). Also visited Chas A. Blatchford & Sons Ltd (Endolite Limbs).

Dr. Vohra has made professional visits to U.K., Germany, Hong Kong, Macau Islands, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

In 1996 joined Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown (Rotary International District 3080).
 
Dr. V.J.S. Vohra had the honour of being installed as the 30th President of Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown for the Rotary year 2006-07 on 14th July 2006 by the Chief Guest, Mr. Pawan K. Bansal, Hon'ble Minister of State for Finance - Govt of India and the Guest of Honour, Rtn. Noraseth Pathmanand, Rotary International Director (from Thailand). This was the first time in the history of Rotary Chandigarh Midtown that a Govt of India Minister and Rotary International Director had visited the club. Dr. Vohra had the rare opportunity of being installed as the President by such eminent dignatories.
 
During Dr. Vohra's tenure as President of the Club, Rotary International President (2007-08) Rtn. Wilfrid Wilkinson inaugurated the WCS Literacy project on 15th May 2007 in which 16000 text books worth Rs Ten Lac were distributed to the needy students of Govt Schools of Chandigarh. Computer Training Centre was established at Saket Rehabilitation Centre, Chandi Mandir by giving 6 computers for training 72 handicapped students. Jobs were given to 31 handicapped persons at Call Centres in Mohali & Chandigarh. Vocational Training Centre set up at villiage Khuda Ali Sher. Eye Camps for cataract surgery project in collaboration with 2 Rotary Clubs of UK, Wollaton Park and Castle Donnington. All 52 weekly bulletins published during the year, were uploaded regularly on Club's website.

Saboo on 21st February 2015, for having successfully completed the programme of Leadership Training  and Rotary Knowledge, conducted by Rotary International District 3080 Leadership Academy for the year 2013-14.

Chief Minister, Maharashtra on 24 Aug 2000 at the 35th National Seminar held at Hotel Taj Palace Intercontinental, New Delhi by All India Achievers Conference. Honoured by Hon'ble Justice O.P. Verma, Governor of Punjab with a `Siropa' on 06 Apr 2004 in recognition of providing artificial limbs to poor disabled patients at a camp held at Ram Darbar, Chandigarh.
 
On 1st July 2014 Dr. Vohra was presented Award of Honour by Mr. Surjit Kumar Jyani, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Punjab, sponsored by Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, on the ocassion of Doctor's Day for doctors of Chandigarh tricity and Punjab.
 
Mrs. Geeta Bhukkal, Hon'ble Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Haryana presented Helen Keller Memorial Award to Dr. V.J.S. Vohra for empowering the disabled persons by providing them artificial limbs since 1973 through his NGO, Nevedac and also serving the society through Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown. The function was organized on 4th July 2014 by National Handicapped Welfare Council, Haryana.

 

Was honoured in a function at Chandigarh on December 07, 2014 for having Dr. Vohra's detailed profile in the prestigious book, 'Chandigarh and its Leading Personalities', (Vol. IV) by Aneesh Bhanot.

 

Dr. V.J.S. Vohra were presented memento by Regional Director of The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) Mr. Ravinder Chandla, in the Conference on Sustainable Development of Persons with Disabilities of ASSOCHAM on 05 August 2019 at Hotel Shivalikview, Chandigarh, for his audio visual presentation on High Tech Innovative Artificial Limbs.
 

 For serving the Disabled Persons since 1973, Appreciation Award to Dr V.J.S. Vohra from Physically Handicapped Association (Punjab), Chandigarh, was presented by Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Hon’ble Health Minister, Govt. of Punjab on 11th August 2019.

 

Dr. V.J.S. Vohra was presented Award of Honour by Indian Association of Assistive Technologists on 23rd December 2019 in its 2nd National Conference, in which Dr. Vohra also presented Life time Achievement Award in the memory of his father Col. D.S. Vohra and also sponored the first Scientific Session of the Conference.

 

"INDO-NEPAL FRIENDSHIP AWARD” given by His Majesty's Govt. of Nepal in May 1999 in recognition of Dr. Vohra's outstanding performance and services to the cause of disabled patients.

Nominated for Fellowship of American Biographical Institute, Inc., North Carolina (USA) in May 2000, which is recommended to exceptional individuals whose accomplishment reserve important recognition.

Appointed an Honorary Member of Advisory Council of the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England in June 2000.

Family Support
Mrs Indu Vohra has been assisting her husband Dr. V.J.S. Vohra since 1978. She is a keen social activitist for the empowerment of the disabled persons and takes great interest to serve them whole heartedly. Their daughter, Ms. Ita Vohra is also ever ready towards the cause of the disabled. Dr. Vohra, Mrs Indu Vohra and Ms. Ita Vohra are also trustees of Jyot Charitable Trust which works for the Empowerment of the disabled persons with a smile, care and encouragement.
 
Ita is married to Mr. Suman Nandi, former Dy. Dean, Chitkara University, Chandigarh. Ita is blessed with twin daughters, Ananya and Anushka, the cutest and beautiful members of our family, and they give us immense joy, affection, love, pleasure and happiness.
 
The above comprises of a family supportive system for Dr. Vohra which is very important and motivates him further to go ahead with this noble and satisfying mission of serving the disabled persons, who deserve to lead a life of dignity and pride as useful and self reliant citizens of their country!
