Jyot Charitable Trust has helped the rehabilitation of thousands of disabled patients by providing them artificial limbs.
This trust had also successfully undertaken a unique social project of providing artificial limbs to civilian patients from the Kashmir valley, sponsored by Army Development Group, HQ 15 Corps, 56 A.P.O. under their Civic Action Programme. This project was satisfactorily implemented by the Trust for which it received wide appreciation . In his letter dated 29.2.2000 Lt. Gen. Krishan Pal, GOC, HQ 15 Corps has written to Lt. Gen. J.F.R. Jacob, Governor of Punjab, placing on record "the yeoman service being rendered by Dr. V.J.S. Vohra (Managing Trustee) who has undertaken this task with cheerful equanimity and in so doing also displayed rare social commitment and professionalism of a very high order".
This trust has also successfully undertaken several other projects sponsered by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (Government of India Undertaking), State Bank of India, State-cum-District Resource Centre, Chandigarh, under National Programme for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, Rotary Clubs, Lions Club and varoius other Government and philantropic agencies, NGOs etc. Dr. V.J.S. Vohra (Managing Trustee) has been actively involved in the profession of Prosthetics-Orthotics since 1973 when he along with his father, Late Col D.S. Vohra established Nevedac Prosthetic Centre in 1973, and is also humbly managing Nevedac as well".
Dr. V.J.S. Vohra , Managing Trustee, is professionally qualified and since 1973 he is involved in this social cause of rehabilitation of the physically challenged persons by providing them artificial limbs and other facilities. Dr. V.J.S. Vohra is Registered as a Professional in Prosthetics-Orthotics with Rehabilitation Council of India. We are and shall always remain committed to the cause of the suffering humanity and their upliftment.
Activities of Jyot Charitable Trust are to provide artificial limbs, orthotic appliances, hearing aids and all types of Prosthetic - Orthotic, Orthopaedic and rehabilitation appliances/aids to the handicapped persons. This trust shall also assist and run organisations engaged in the manufacture and fitment of artificial limbs and other orthopaedic/rehabilitation appliances. Poor patients are to be treated free of cost.
The Managing Trustee, Dr. V.J.S. Vohra has been actively involved in this profession since 1973 in the internationally known institution, Nevedac Prosthetic Centre (NPC), Daulatsinghwala, Near Airport, Chandigarh. This institution was founded by his father late Padmashri Col. D.S. Vohra, who expired in January 1998. Dr. Vohra is the Chairman & Managing Director of NPC.
Dr. V.J.S. Vohra has received several national awards and recognition from Central Government Ministers, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Rotary and Lions Clubs and other organisations & dignatories. Dr. Vohra has also received International Awards and recognition. Punjab Govt., Haryana Govt., Chandigarh Administration and Himachal Pradesh Govt. has appointed Dr. Vohra as their Hony. Prosthetic Adviser. Dr. Vohra is also member of various professional organisations in India and abroad. He is registered as Professional in Prosthetics-Orthotics by Rehabilitation Council of India. Dr. Vohra has also developed the electronic hand and the battery operated wheel chair.
Dr. Vohra is also a member of State Executive Committee, Chandigarh for Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.
Dr. V.J.S. Vohra has been carrying on the noble work of Late Col. D.S. Vohra. In his memory Dr. Vohra has established Jyot Charitable Trust since April 1998, which is registered as Charitable Trust. (Registration No.911)
