Our Projects with Rotary Clubs

Visit Rotary Chandigarh Midtown
Dr. V.J.S. Vohra, Secretary (2003-04), Vice President (2004-05) and President (2006-07) of Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown had established in 1973 Nevedac Prosthetic Centre as its whole time Director & later Chairman & Managing Director. He is also a reputed Prosthetic Consultant, specialising in fitment of artificial limbs and is also the Managing Trustee of Jyot Charitable Trust.
Dr. V.J.S. Vohra had the honour of being installed as the 30th President of Rotary Chandigarh Midtown for the Rotary year 2006-07 on 14th July 2006 by the Chief Guest, Mr. Pawan K. Bansal, Hon'ble Minister of State for Finance - Govt of India and the Guest of Honour, Rtn. Noraseth Pathmanand, Rotary International Director (from Thailand). This was the first time in the history of Rotary Chandigarh Midtown that a Govt of India Minister and Rotary International Director had visited the club. Dr. Vohra had the rare opportunity of being installed as the President by such eminent dignatories.

Rotary Club of Chandigarh Midtown, Chandigarh (India), in association with Jyot Charitable Trust, Chandigarh has implemented number of artificial limbs projects.
Under the above Projects, Jyot Charitable Trust has fitted poor patients with Artificial Limbs and other Prosthetic / assistive devices. No. of patients fitted with artificial limbs under these Projects is over 600 since 1997.
In addition to Rotary Club of Chandigarh Midtown, other Rotary Clubs who participated in a WCS project in 1997-98 were:
Rotary Club of Milano Sud Est, Italy.
Rotary Club of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada.
Rotary Club of Wollaton Park, Nottingham, UK.
Visit of Dignatories to this Project:
Rotary International President Glen W. Kinross, alongwith his wife Heather, visited Nevedac Prosthetic Centre on 10th Jan. 1998. They were accompanied by Past Rotary International Presidents Sir Clem Renouf and Mr. R.K. Saboo. They met the patients benefitted under above WCS Project. They were also taken around the Nevedac Centre by its then Chairman & Managing Director, Col. D.S. Vohra. The RI President appreciated the services being provided. He and other dignatories showed keen interest in the various types of prosthetic aids.

The visit of the RI President on 10th Jan. 1998 to Nevedac was coordinated through Rtn. Dr. V.J.S. Vohra.
Jyot Charitable Trust, Chandigarh has done number of artificial limbs projects with other Rotary Clubs also.

In Dec. 2003 when Rotary International President, Rtn. Jonathan Majiyagbe visited Chandigarh, Dr. V.J.S. Vohra was introduced to the RI President by Past RI President Rtn R.K. Saboo. During the fellowship at a function Dr. Vohra explained to RI President Majiyagbe about the various artificial limbs projects that he has done with Rotary, which was duly appreciated by the RI President. |
